The Nuclear Medicine Residency at Beaumont Hospital is designed to prepare the trainee for the American Board of Nuclear Medicine Certification Examination and subsequent practice in either the academic or private practice setting.
Prior to entering the program, completion of at least one year of preparatory postgraduate training in a clinical specialty (e.g., transitional year, internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, etc.) is required.
Applicants with only one year of training will enter a 3-year program, while those with a completed residency in a clinical specialty (usually Internal Medicine or Pediatrics), will enter a 2-year program. Those applicants who completed a Diagnostic Radiology residency will enter a 1-year program. All of these pathways lead to certification by the ABNM.
Our training program meets the requirements of the ACGME Residency Review Committee in Nuclear Medicine and is ACGME accredited.
