Residencies

Residencies at Beaumont Hospital

Residents fulfill an integral role in patient care at Beaumont. They are given maximum responsibility in accordance with their level of experience with appropriate supervision. Most departments have active staff services which allow residents to learn the role of the primary physician first-hand.

Beaumont Physicians academic instruction is combined with guest lectures to provide residents with education from experts. A typical format includes:

  • grand rounds
  • basic science conferences
  • clinical conferences
  • morning report
  • morbidity and mortality conference
  • journal clubs.

Continuing Medical Education

Beaumont also has an active Continuing Medical Education (CME) program certified nationally by the ACCME to give Category I credit. Residents are supported for travel to regional and national meetings to augment their education.

Many programs utilize national in-service examinations to assist their residents in identifying strengths and areas in need of improvement. Beaumont residents are well-prepared for certification by their specialty board. The vast majority of our graduates achieve certification upon their initial board examination.
